Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of about-us.be , there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for https://about-us.be/:
2.1.1 Keyboard – Level A
All functionality of the content must be operable through a keyboard interface without requiring specific timings for individual keystrokes.
The dropdown menus in the mega menu cannot be opened or operated by users who rely solely on a keyboard or screen reader. This prevents users from accessing navigation options without a mouse.
4.1.2 Name, Role, Value – Level A
For all user interface components (including but not limited to form elements, links, and components generated by scripts), the name and role can be programmatically determined; states, properties, and values that can be set by the user can be programmatically set; and notification of changes to these items is available to user agents, including assistive technologies.
The dropdown menus and the date picker do not correctly expose their name, role, or state to assistive technologies. As a result, screen reader users may not understand or interact with these components properly.
1.3.1 Info and Relationships – Level A
Information, structure, and relationships conveyed through presentation can be programmatically determined or are available in text.
The structure and relationships within the navigation menu and date picker are not properly conveyed to assistive technologies, making it difficult for users to understand and navigate these components.
2.4.3 Focus Order – Level A
If a web page can be navigated sequentially and the navigation sequences affect meaning or operation, focusable components receive focus in an order that preserves meaning and operability.
The date picker does not provide a logical or usable focus order when navigating via keyboard, which can confuse users and prevent effective interaction.
2.4.7 Focus Visible – Level AA
Any keyboard operable user interface has a mode of operation where the keyboard focus indicator is visible.
The date picker may not clearly indicate which element has keyboard focus, making it difficult for users to track their position while navigating.
1.4.10 Reflow – Level AA
Content can be presented without loss of information or functionality, and without requiring scrolling in two dimensions, for vertical scrolling content at a width equivalent to 320 CSS pixels.
Some content on the website requires horizontal scrolling at smaller screen widths (320px), which can make it difficult for users with low vision or motor impairments to access and interact with the content.
